Mantua 4-6-2, 2-8-2 and 0-6-0

Bob and Paul rebuild their Mantua Mike, Pacific and a Big 6

The update is that the Mantua Mike (above) is up and operating with a Soundtrax system and has a keep alive capacitor helping it run smooth, the construction took less time than the documentation.

Bob's Mike tested after regearing but in need of more milling for the motor

Bob's Project setup

Paul's 4-6-2 tested with motor

The rest of the parts without the boiler, cab and tender

Working on the update of the locos has required the accumulation of tools and a great deal of milling machine work to fit the can motor and gears in place. Just the removal of drivers for gear replacement has been a challenge. The tools from North West Short line has helped as has having machine tools to use. These are older locomotives and care must be taken with their cast parts.

4-6-2 before removal of the old gear Using the Puller to remove the driver Then using the same setup for the gear After the removal of the main driver and gear NWSL tool used to to align the driver

2-8-2 being tested with DC
